If your life had a theme song, what would it be?
Music is an amazing form of expression. Often there is a song that expresses what we are feeling at any given time. I have found in my own life that there have been different songs at different points in my life that have expressed how I’m feeling. Sometimes it was a song on the radio and sometimes it was a worship song. When Britton and I were first married, it was Bobby McFerrin’s “Don’t Worry Be Happy” and around our tenth anniversary, it was Savage Garden’s “Truly Madly Deeply.” When Emma and Liam were born it was Creed’s “With Arms Wide Open.” When I turned 40 it was Jeremy Camp’s “Give me Jesus,” and these days it is Elevation’s “Do it Again.”
What song best describes the season of life that you are currently in? Have you ever thought about it?
The book of Psalms has been called the ‘hymn book of the Christian life’. There is a Psalm for every season of life, a song that expresses every emotion we experience. The authors of the Psalms have written powerful lyrics that can help us express what we are feeling and connect with God in a more intimate way. That’s why this summer we are spending our Sunday mornings looking at a different Psalm through our ‘Songs of Summer’ series.
This weekend we’ll be looking at Psalm 29, a song written by someone who was overwhelmed with the chaos in the world. In the midst of that chaos they discovered an amazing truth that helped them connect with God. I hope you’ll join us this Sunday as we discover how to connect with God in the midst of chaos.
See you Sunday,
Pastor Kirk
Family Worship Experience
Join us this summer for a family worship experience. We have redesigned our worship service for the summer months to be shorter and to be an active learning and worship experience. Each week kids in kindergarten to grade six will be invited to participate in the sermon through experiential learning experiences. There will also be activity boxes each week for kids who just want to stay in their seats.
Hope Kids (K-Gr 6) will resume after the summer break. Wonder Years preschool for ages 2-4 and First Steps nursery continues throughout the summer.
