I live in the Greens, not too far from the church.  When I meet people in the neighbourhood and they find out that I am a pastor at Living Hope, a statement that I often hear is that they “never knew that was a church.”  Usually they will tell me how they have driven by our church building for years and either did not notice it or did not know what it was.  Some have even lived next door to our church building, not knowing it was a church.

Have you ever driven by something and never noticed it was there?  I’ve done this.  I never noticed a store that I drove by every day until I suddenly needed something from that store.  I’m sure you’ve done something like this too.  (Please tell me that I’m not the only unobservant one in the world!)

This weekend we are going to talk about how we do that, not just in our driving, but in every part of our life.  We are in week two of our “Under the Surface” series, a teaching series in which we are looking under the surface of our lives at things that keep us from deeper connection and intimacy with God, with others and with ourselves.

This Sunday we are going to explore the story of a great leader who had something under the surface of his life that he had lived with for 40 years!  Until he slowed down and looked, he didn’t see what was there, he didn’t know what needed to change.  I hope you’ll join us as we explore Exodus 2:11-3:11 and the story of Moses when he was forced to slow down and pay attention to what was under the surface causing him pain and problems.
