Have you ever had a friendship break down? Have you longed for it to be restored?
The other day I was talking and praying with a friend over FaceTime. He mentioned a mutual friend, or at least they used to be a mutual friend. Actually, this person had been a very close friend of mine. We had shared life for years – they lived with us for a time, I officiated their wedding, we laughed and cried together. Then something happened to drive a wedge between us. As I look back now, I can see that we both did things; neither of us was completely to blame for what happened. The friendship broke and we stopped talking. We haven’t spoken or seen each other in years.
When my friend mentioned their name over FaceTime, I felt something stir underneath the surface, deep within my soul. I didn’t say anything to my friend on FaceTime. I just continued talking like nothing had changed, but secretly I was grieving and longing to see that relationship restored.
Have you experienced something like this? Is there a longing in your soul for a relationship to be restored?
This weekend we are continuing our “Under the Surface” teaching series and discovering the starting point to restoring relationships that are broken. We’ll be looking at the lives of two kings who both did things that broke their relationship with God and friends. One experienced restored relationship, the other did not. Together we’ll explore why one king was restored and the other rejected, but even more importantly, we’ll look at how you and I can begin to restore our relationship with God and the people around us today.
See you Sunday,
Pastor Kirk
PS…We’ll be losing our Arcola Avenue access by the end of September. Please begin using the Green Falls Drive entrance for entering and exiting the parking lot.
