The Greatest Triumph Ever

May 8, 1945, is known as Victory in Europe Day or V-E Day. V-E Day is the day that marked the end of World War 2 in Europe.   When victory was declared, celebration erupted worldwide. Mass gatherings, ticker-tape parades, and strangers hugging on the street were just some of the events that day. Everything changed in an instant as a world that had been at war for over five years suddenly had peace. This day marked the incredible triumph in Europe, a triumph all of us live in the wake of. While the Allies’ triumph over the Axis powers in 1945 is often thought of as the greatest triumph the world has seen, we live in the wake of a greater triumph.

This weekend marks the anniversary of the greatest triumph the world has ever seen. This weekend, as we celebrate Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday, we remember the incredible and unmatchable triumph of the cross and the resurrection. On Friday, we remember the cross, as a symbol of disgrace, punishment, and death in the first century is transformed and Jesus makes it into a symbol of triumph over evil – the ransom for sin was paid once and for all.  On Sunday, we’ll remember the empty tomb, which proves that not even death can defeat the power of God in the world and in our lives.

As followers of Jesus, we live every day in the wake of these triumphs. The world was forever changed that first Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday. How do the triumphs of the cross and the tomb impact your life? I hope you’ll join us this Friday and Sunday as we explore what it means to live in the triumph of the cross and the tomb every day. Our Good Friday service will be online at 10:30 am, on YouTube and the church website. Our Resurrection Sunday service will be online at 10:30 am, and 9:00 am and 10:30 am in person (pre-registration required – click here). I hope you’ll join us as together we remember, reflect upon, and celebrate the triumph of Jesus!

May the triumph of Christ transform the way you think and live today.

See you soon,
Pastor Kirk
