Let Us Adore Him – Angels Adore Him – Group Discussion Guide

Angels Adore Him
Let Us Adore Him

Pastor Kirk, Dec 1st, 2019

Scripture: Luke 2:8-14

Summary: The angels worshiped Jesus because they recognized that God’s glory is revealed in the person of Jesus and this changes everything.

Main Thought: Jesus reveals the greatness of God

Getting to Know Each Other (Start Here):

  • What is your favorite Christmas memory or tradition?

Going Deeper:

  1. Why do you think that the command to fear not is so common throughout the Bible and nativity story?
  2. Psalm 46:10 directs us to be still and know God. Are you to busy to know God during the Christmas season? Does the incarnation get lost in your to-do list?
  3. The Angels had the glory of God shining around them? How is God shining around you this season?
  4. Read Heb 1:1-3 and John 8:12 – why is the light motif so important to believers? In your words how do you reflect God’s glory?
  5. Moses’ light faded. The Angels reflected God’s glory. Describe our changed state of presence with God based on Moses, the Angels, and Jesus.
  6. Traditionally the first week of Advent focuses on hope. What hope was established for us in the incarnation?
  7. What hope did the Angels declare to the shepherds?
  8. In your words describe the importance of Jesus Christ Immanuel  (God with us).
  9. What practice can we take away from the Angels in the Christmas story (reflect God’s glory, revealing God’s truth or representing God).

Apply it:

  • What could you do this month to build in spontaneous acts of adoration?

Pray without ceasing:

This Advent season spend 24 days praying for family, neighbors and friends who are far from God. That they would draw near to Jesus this Christmas. That they would discover his love, power, and presence and enter into relationship with Jesus.

Community Reading Plan: Luke 1-6

This week add Luke 1 to 6 to your devotions. Read a chapter a day up to and including chapter 6. Look at the relationships that are present in these chapters and keep two questions in mind.

  • What do I need to know from this chapter (a truth about my reality or God or a life lesson)?
  • What do I need to grow (Is there something God is trying to teach me through His Word)?

Keep a journal nearby and write down any questions or thoughts you can share with your Community Group. Remind and encourage each other to participate in this group devotion.
