Have you ever tried to get fit and improve your strength or endurance?  How do you know you are accomplishing your goal?   

If you’ve ever tried to get fit and increase your strength or endurance, you know that there are indicators. Sometimes it is as simple as looking in the mirror, but often it involves other indicators of growth.  You will likely track your distance and time if you are a runner. You may track the weight you are lifting and the number of repetitions you are doing if you are building your strength. You will likely track time spent exercising, calories you eat, and your weight if you are trying to get fit, or you may just try to get 10,000 steps on your Fitbit or close your rings every day on your Apple Watch (I love closing my rings!) 

When you are trying to improve your health, get fit, or grow in your ability to do something you often track your progress. There are physical indicators that will help you know if what you are doing is making a difference, but what do you do if you want to grow in other ways?  What do you do when we want to grow spiritually? How do we know if we are growing spiritually? 

For the last five weeks we have been talking about the brand-new way of living that Jesus invites us into, but how do we know if we are living as Jesus envisions?  Did you know that just as there are indicators of physical fitness, there are indicators of growth in the Jesus way of living? This weekend we’ll be looking at Luke 6:43-45 and exploring how we can know if we are embracing the brand-new life Jesus is offering. I hope you’ll join us this Sunday as we discover that the new life Jesus offers produces fruit that helps us know if we are becoming what Jesus envisions.
