Sermon Discussion Guide
1.) When was a time that you made a decision or commitment and didn’t follow through with it?
Read Acts 15:6-10
2.) When you hear the phrase “That’s not how church is done”, what situations does that bring to mind? Is this something you’ve had spoken to you? Is it something you’ve said to others?
3.) After Peter received his vision, God asked him to go against his comfortable pattern of focusing on the Jewish people and go spread the Gospel to the Gentiles. He surrendered his actions to Jesus and the Church grew to include all nations, just as Jesus had commanded. In order to do this, Peter had to surrender to God in order to become an Acts 1:8 person. What does surrender to God look like for you? Are there areas in your life, your opinions, thoughts, way of living, that still are not fully surrendered to him?
4.) Once we surrender, we need to follow that with commitment to act as a person surrendered to God. What action or commitment have you made that demonstrates that you are all-in to the life Jesus envisions for you?
5.) Once we have surrendered and committed to what Jesus envisions for us, we need to trust him through the challenges that will come. Take time in your group to talk together about challenges you are facing and pray with each other that through these challenges we will trust that God helps us through these difficult times and situations.

6.) Talk together about the commitment you have made to the Going Beyond campaign at our church. How have you surrendered, committed, and are trusting God to walk with you through this journey? Pray together for continual surrender and firm commitment. Pray for deep trust in God and his power to do great things. Thank him for including us in his desire to see the world know him and his grace.
