Sermon Discussion Guide
1.) How has your view of missionaries changes since you first remember learning about what missionaries do? What do you see the role of missionaries being in the Church?
Read Isaiah 49:6, Matthew 28:19-20, and Acts 1:8
2.) Don Orr talked with us about the ‘Big Ask’ that God directs us toward throughout Scripture, we see that the elements of that ask are Go, Give/Send, and Pray.
When you hear stories from missionaries about their lives and ministry, what does that stir inside you? What questions do you have? Have you ever been drawn to cross-cultural ministry work?
Read Isaiah 61:1, Luke 4:43, and Romans 10:14-15
3.) When we read about how God sent Jesus and that Jesus sends us to fulfill the Great Commission, we see that we are part of God’s plan to make himself known to people who don’t know him. What does the call to send look like in your life? Are there ways that you can support others in their desire to be part of cross-cultural overseas missions? What would that look like?
Are there ways that you can equip others who are missionaries?
Are there ways that you can share the gospel where you are? People you ride the bus with, have coffee with, work with?
4.) “When you pray, God moves” It can be overwhelming to see images like we say this
morning and know what we can do to help. Take time to pray together and ask God how he would have you help. Would he have you go? Give/Send? Pray?

5.) Take time to pray together for Don and Betty Orr and the people group that they are going to be serving. Pray for the physical needs (protection, living space, financial support), spiritual needs (presence of Holy Spirit, spiritual protection, the transition of leaving a place they have served for 20 years), and for the people themselves (that their hearts would be soft and that God would provide healing for their hearts and bodies because of the atrocities that they have seen and experienced). Pray for the national pastors as well, that they would be encouraged and sustained through the days and months ahead.
