Sermon Discussion Guide
1.) Have you ever tried to fit things together in your life but felt like you were missing a piece? When you felt like something was missing?
Read 1 Corinthians 15:1-11
2.) When we read 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 we are reading a creed that the early church spoke together, a profession of their faith. Read these two verses as a group. Looking at the phrase “for our sins”, take time to ask yourselves, where have we sinned, missing the mark on what God would have us do or not do?
3.) If we look at what Scripture says, what Jesus said to us through his word and actions, it calls out a response from us. If all that Jesus says is true, what does that change for us? How should it affect how we read scripture, how we live our lives, etc.?
4.) The resurrection is a starting point. When Jesus came, died, and rose again, everything changed, everything had the potential to be made new. Looking at our lives, is there something in your life that seems dead, a relationship, or a situation? Pray together for that situation, that the resurrected Jesus who can make things new again will show you how he is working in you and in that situation.
5.) In 1 Corinthians 15:10, Paul speaks about the change that came over him when he encountered the resurrected Jesus. Where he used to persecute those he disagreed with, he changed to go to all people, preaching the Gospel with a changed heart. When we consider the resurrection, the cost that Jesus paid so people could be connected to God, where is there an argument or disagreement that you need to change towards? What steps can you take this week to seek reconciliation?
