Sermon Discussion Guide

1.) How many churches were there in the place where you grew up? How would your community have been different? How would you have been different if there was no church?

Read Deuteronomy 31:1-8

2.) This week we heard Jacob Birch speak about the C&MA’s work in the Eastern Canadian District. He gave some statistics that can help be the focus of some of our prayer for that area of Canada.

There has been a 26% reduction in weekly church attendance
There are 2.2 million people with 200 churches
There are 30 Mi’qma First Nation communities with only 1 evangelical church, total.
9000 International students come to Nova Scotia for schooling.

Pray together as a group that God will show his leading in these areas, and that there
will be people who will follow that leading to minister to others. As you listen to God,
pray for any other needs that you may become aware of.

3.) Here are some specific needs for the Maritime provinces and the C&MA initiatives there.

– For the flooding in New Brunswick, for those who have had to be evacuated from their homes, for protection for all involved.
– Pray for a growing church in Charlottetown, PEI. Pray for the Collective Coffee Roasters CO. and their desire to reach others through this ministry.
– Pray for the C&MA chaplains who are training. Pray for their ministry and that there will be a C&MA church that will grow in that community.
– Josh and Miranda Perry- Please pray for Josh’s Acadian French studies and their desire to minister to the Acadian people.

4.) Jacob gave us three requests from the Easter Canadian District: For 30 partner churches, for 300 Daily Prayer partners, and for 3000 monthly donors of $13. Take time to pray in your group about how God may be leading you to be involved. If he is leading you to support in one of these areas, make steps to put this conviction into action.
