- Name one thing you find amazing about the created world around you. What in the natural world has helped you to encounter/worship God?
- Read Genesis 1-2:1.
- The writer never defends God as creator but rather declares it. What does this say about God? What difference does this make to your faith?
- The text slows down when it comes to the creation of man. What does God say about man? What does God do for man? What does that tell you about God’s plan for man?
- Is the message of Genesis 1 still necessary in our post-modern, scientific world? Why or why not?
- Read Psalm 24:1-2. With God as our Creator, what does this mean for your stewardship of life and relationships?
- Read Colossians 1:15-20. What is the connection between Jesus’ role in creation and the resurrection (new creation)?
- Jesus taught his disciples to pray, “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10). Where does world in general need God’s kingdom to invade and bring order? Where do you personally? What role can you play in bringing about God’s will to the earth he gave you responsibility for and to the relationships you are a part of?
Read Psalm 8 and pray together, thanking God for his amazing creation and for the people in it.
