Group Discussion – October 27, 2024

Connect:

  1. Open in prayer.
  2. Do you have a person(s) in your life who you would consider ‘chosen family’? Why?

Discussion:

  1. “Why was the law given?” is Paul’s rhetorical question. How would you answer this?
  2. Pastor Tim used the analogy of a typewriter being fulfilled in a computer to illustrate the connection between the law and Christ. How would you explain or expand this?
  3. What limitations does the law have? (cannot fulfill God’s promises, cannot give life)
  4. According to the passage, how do we become children of God?
  5. Paul mentions baptism in verse 27. What role does baptism play in the family of God?
    1. If you have been baptized, share the experience of what led you to baptism.
    1. If you have not been baptized and if you are comfortable, share what is holding you back.
  6. Re-read vs 28, the height of the passage. What is Paul saying here?
    1. How does this apply to your life?
    1. Is there a promise you need to claim?
    1. Is there a sin you need to repent of?
    1. If any of these resonate with you, share with the group.
  7. What is one thing your small group could do in the next month to deepen your connection as ‘chosen family’ and remove any obstacles that are present?
