Discuss:

  1. Why was Paul so intense in his writing to the Galatians? He called them “foolish Galatians.”
  2. What was Paul pointing out that the Judaizers had twisted?
  3. Why is legalism or following the rules so detrimental? Reread Gal 3:1-8 if that helps.
  4. Why did Paul bring up Abraham? What did Abraham offer to Paul’s argument that helped the Judaizers see their folly?
  5. Pastor Tim talked about Legalism and Antinomianism. Together, come up with a definition for both.
  6. Pastor Tim talked about these having the same root issue. What was the root issue and how does it connect? Hint: the issue is a distrust in God and his goodness to us. And it connects through Gen 3 and the serpents lying to Adam and Eve through painting a picture of God being restrictive and self-absorbed.
  7. If someone were to get a transcript of all the thoughts that pass through your mind, how would they describe how your view God?
  8. Every Christian deals with some level of legalism or antinomianism. What side do you lean to and why?

Pray:

  1. Pastor Tim talked about resentment, envy, bitterness, cynicism, fear, criticalness, etc. being signs of a skewed view of God. Do you have any of these things that you would request prayer for?
  2. Ask for other prayer requests as well and then pray as God leads.
