Discussion:
- Re-read Mark 1:21-28. What was it about Jesus’ teaching that people found so astonishing?
- Share a time when you have read scripture and it revealed a truth about life to you that you had not realized before. In other words, you found it authoritative for life.
- Why did the demon obey Jesus?
- Obedience to Jesus is a challenging command from scripture. Why do we struggle so much with this biblical truth?
Break up into male and female groups for the next few questions:
- What areas in your life do you find obedience easy? What areas in your life do you find it a struggle?
- What is the greatest obstacle for you in obeying Jesus?
- Sometimes obedience is about God’s will for our lives, other times obedience is about resisting sin. What sin do you struggle to resist?
- What kind of help would you like from your small group?
Prayer
- Remain in your male and female groups and finish by praying over each other with the information that have come out of the last few questions.

Community involvement: Some individuals connected to our church, due to life’s circumstances at this time, regularly rely on the Superstore gift cards we give out to purchase groceries. If your group would like to provide some yummy baking or frozen home-made meals that could be given to these wonderful folks, please contact Pastor Shauna.
Global requests: The Japanese are the largest least-reached group in the whole world. After decades and decades of missionary work, the church is small with only .6% of the entire population claiming Christ as Saviour. It is estimated that approximately 2300 more workers are needed to make powerful inroads for the gospel in the population of 123 million. Pray for the Lord of the harvest to send His workers to this field! Pray for our Alliance team in Japan to have the strength to continue to share Christ in a spiritually dark place. Pray also for Sarah Hornoi from our own church, presently teaching ESL in Tokyo, who is a part of a small church plant reaching young adults.
