- When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? Who influenced you to become who you are now? Who most influences you today?
- How do you define worship? If God is seeking true worshippers (John 4:23), what does this imply (Matt. 15:8)? How can we make worship a priority in our lives (I Cor. 10:31, Heb. 13:16)?
- What is the common good (1 Cor. 12:7)? How does it relate to Genesis 12:1-3?
- Spiritual gifts are inherently other centered but naturally our sin nature wants to make them about us. How do we fight that tendency and use our gifts for the common good?
- Many in the Corinthian church were not content with the gifting God had given them and wanted other gifts. Have you ever have been dissatisfied with the gifts Holy Spirit has given you? What gifts or abilities do you wish you had?
- For the sake of the common good, how might Holy Spirit be equipping you in a way that you might not expect or that doesn’t come naturally?
- Look at the other members of your group. How do you see each of them contributing to the body?
- What changes are occurring in your life that show Holy Spirit is empowering you to become who Jesus envisions?
- What may be interfering with Holy Spirit’s empowerment in your life?
Pray as a group, thanking God for the gifts represented and for the opportunity to use those gifts this week to BLESS those who need to encounter Jesus personally.
