Group Discussion Guide – Triumph – Triumphant Return

Triumph
Triumphant Return

Pastor Kirk, April 4, 2021

Read: Luke 23:50-24:12

Big Idea:    With Jesus the end always has a new beginning.

Getting to Know Each Other (Start Here):

  • What is your favorite part of the Easter account?

Going Deeper:

  1. Do you daily walk in the hope and light of resurrection?
  2. Does embracing the resurrection everyday seem like a loving hug or a wrestling move? How come?
  3. In regards to the resurrection are you left wondering or in wonder? What is the cause?
  4. When you’ve believed that something was over, what did Jesus show you or tell you?  How did he reveal himself to you?
  5. Kirk shared some of his breakthrough moments in life. What have been your breakthrough moments?
  6. JRR Tolkien coined a literary device called the eucatastrophe, which he based on the resurrection. “The sudden happy turn in a story which pierces you with a joy that brings tears.” How is Jesus resurrection a eucatastrophe? And how has the good of the resurrection suddenly pierced your life?
  7. We had baptisms this past Sunday. Take a moment to share about your Baptism and why you decided to get baptized.
  8. How is Baptism a participation in the death and resurrection of Jesus? (Romans 6:4-6)

Apply it:

What can you do to respond to Jesus Triumph this week?

  • What is one way you can live in wonder of Jesus’ resurrection this week?
  • Spend extra time reading over Luke 23:50-24:12 (Jesus Death and Resurrection)
  • Or read over the next sections as Jesus reveals himself to His followers Luke 24:13-49 and think about how He has revealed Himself in your own life.

Spend time praying for and with each other. (If you are comfortable allow moments of silence to linger to hear from God).
