The Way
The Trail Head

Pastor Kirk, September 13, 2020

Scripture: John 6:60-69

Summary:    We are all on a journey in life do you know the Way?

Big Idea:    The Way isn’t easy but it leads to life.

Getting to Know Each Other (Start Here):

  • Have you ever had to turn around because you got lost?
  • Share about a time you argued with directions/GPS even though they were right.
  • Name a song whose lyrics are about living life your own way.

Going Deeper:

  1. Jesus’ words are not always easy to accept and follow.  Have you ever argued with Jesus? Did Jesus argue with You?
  2. Do you think the teachings of Jesus that cause you offense are warning signs of walking your own path? Is the Holy Spirit revealing to you areas in your life that you may be wandering away?
  3. Sometimes listening to God doesn’t feel like a GPS giving directions, how do we follow the way when we don’t hear an audible voice?
  4. What are some ways that you can daily live in surrender to Jesus’ way?
  5. Has there been a time recently that you needed direction from Jesus? Did you receive it? How? (Prayer requests may come from this).
  6. Reflect on Peter and Judas. How did they exemplify lives that were following the Jesus way or not?
  7. Pastor Kirk talked about knowing you’re going your own way when the words of Jesus, or something someone passionately devoted to Jesus does begins to offend you. Have you had a family member or friend challenge the you for living your own way and not Jesus’ way? How did you take it?
  8. How do we have healthy but tough conversations about staying on track with the Jesus’s Way of life?

Apply it:

  • Listen to the Spirit, ask him “Where have am I resisting or have wandered from the way?” Then choose how you will respond.

Pray without ceasing:

Spend time praying with each other about life and how reopening is impacting your lives. Pray about the Jesus way of life and what it looks like during this season of life.
