Group Discussion Guide – The Way – Relentlessly Focused

The Way
Relentlessly Focused (Out)

Pastor Kirk, November 1, 2020

Read: Luke 15, Luke 9:51, Philippians 2:5-12

Big Idea:    The lost matter to Jesus, do they matter to you? Jesus is relentlessly focused on the lost.

Getting to Know Each Other (Start Here):

  • Have you ever found something that you had thought lost? How did you react?
  • How about something that someone else had lost?

Going Deeper:

  1. Luke 15 shows how relentlessly Jesus searches for the lost. How and when did Jesus pursue you in order for you to become part of God’s family??
  2. In the parable of the lost coin, the woman disrupted everything in the house to find that one coin.  Are you willing to be disrupted to find lost people?  How is Jesus disrupting your life in His pursuit of lost souls?
  3. are we eagerly waiting for disruption to be able to share the gospel? What kind of disruptions have you seen God work through?
  4. How do you think/feel towards lost people?? Does Jesus’ attitude expressed in Luke 15 motivate a change in your attitude towards the lost??  How? Why??
  5. Who are the tax collectors and sinners in our world? What should our response be to the untouchables? How can we eat with them like Jesus did?
  6. Take some time to look at the story or Jonah and compare it to the prodigal son. How do Jonah and the older son parallel each other? Do our hearts reflect a reluctant attitude to share in Jesus’ heart for the lost?
  7. When was the last time you shared God’s gospel of love with someone else?

Apply it:

  • Do you actions reveal God’s heart for the lost in your life? Read through Luke 15 and journal about how you can seek like the people in the parables.

Spend time praying for and with each other. (If you are comfortable allow moments of silence to linger to hear from God).
