The Way
Deeply Committed (IN)
Pastor Kirk, October 11, 2020
Read: Luke 6:12-19; Luke 8:19-21; Acts 2:42-47
Big Idea: The Jesus way isn’t meant to be journeyed alone, its meant to be journeyed with a group of people you are deeply committed to.
Getting to Know Each Other (Start Here):
- Have you ever traveled solo before?
- If you could go on a journey with someone who would it be and why?
Going Deeper:
- Who is someone who has poured into your life? What was their impact on your relationship with Jesus?
- How does your relationship to your extended family differ from your other relationships?
- Read Luke 6:12-19: Where is the “mountain “where you go to talk to God? Does what You and God discuss transfer to your daily life? Give an example.
- Read Acts 5:1-11: Ananias and Saphira both wanted the benefits of being fully committed but didn’t want to go all in. Are there areas of your life that you are holding back and not receiving the full benefit?
- Can I trust other believers enough to be committed to one or more of them? Can I trust them to be committed to me?
- Evangelism can sometimes seem to emphasize having lots of relationships in your life? How does that make it harder to go deeper on committed relationships?
- Is there a “Judas” character you may be called to journey with? How would you go about this?
- Jesus modeled communal life journeying with His apostles. How does your life reflect or rebuff what Jesus modeled?
Apply it:
- Challenge for the week: Set aside time to pray and discuss with God who you are journeying with. Pray for them or pray about who to invite into a deeply committed relationship. Find a way to encourage their spiritual journey this week.
Spend time praying for and with each other. (If you are comfortable allow moments of silence to linger to hear from God).
