Really Living
Pastor Kirk, June 21st, 2020
Scripture: Rev. 3:1-6
Summary: You aren’t really living if you aren’t really embracing the Spirit. The Christ-centered life is a Spirit-filled life.
Checking In (Focus Here):
Galatians 6:2 – Bear one another’s burdens: Ask each other how you are doing and listen to what is happening.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 – Encourage one another: Speak the hope of Christ to one another. Encourage each other.
Ephesians 6:18 – Pray for one another: Spend time praying for one another.
Going Deeper:
- Have you ever tried to do something by yourself? (That required more people)
- What is the difference Between a Holy Spirit empowered life and others? How about churches?
- How does the Holy Spirit help us finish our deeds? Do you have any unfinished deeds?
- What is the difference between the deposit (seal) of the Holy Spirit and being filled (baptism of Holy Spirit) with the Holy Spirit?
- Read John 10:10 – What difference does Holy Spirit make for you in the fullness of Jesus declaration?
- What sort of letter would you receive from John? How about Living Hope Alliance Church? (Take time to write out a letter this week. Maybe send it to the church office. Remember the hope and Christ centered nature of the letters to the 7 churches in Revelation).
Apply It:
Take time this week to pray for a filling of the Holy Spirit. You can do this as a group and lay hands on one another to pray for the filling of the Holy Spirit. “Being filled with the Holy Spirit is as easy as breathing. You breath out and then you breath in.” A.B. Simpson.
There is no clear cut way to be filled with Holy Spirit. But it always involves our faith in Christ. A desire to be truly filled by the Holy Spirit and asking Holy Spirit to fill us and then obeying all that Holy Spirit calls us to and convicts us of.
- Faith
- Desire
- Asking
- Obedience
