Come and See, Go and Tell
Dr. Bernie Van De Walle, June 7th, 2020
Scripture: Matt. 28:1-10
Summary: Fear does not discredit your witness. Do not fear. Come and See. Go and Tell.
Checking In (Focus Here):
Galatians 6:2 – Bear one another’s burdens: Ask each other how you are doing and listen to what is happening.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 – Encourage one another: Speak the hope of Christ to one another. Encourage each other.
Ephesians 6:18 – Pray for one another: Spend time praying for one another.
Going Deeper:
- What phrases or words that are repeated in the Bible stand out to you? “Do not be afraid.” “Love one another.” “I am with you.”
- Have you been facing any situations in your life where fear is a reasonable response? Where was God in the situation encouraging you to fear not?
- How did the woman experience the death of Jesus in a broader way than the apostles? What does the text reveal to you about people?
- Read Matt 28:18-20 – How are the commands in Matt 28:1-10 repeated here?
- What should our response as Christians be to these commands? How have you been doing living them?
- Was the command all the women needed for going? What else does God gift us to fulfill the command?
- What else does the Bible have to say about fear and the believer?
Apply It:
This week listen for the voice of God inviting you to come and see His love for you. Remember to go and tell someone about your experience. You can practice this while you pray.
- Spend time praying with your hands in a receiving position. Ask to receive a renewed and deeper experience of God’s love for you through Jesus.
- Then step into a moment of prayer with your hands in the position of giving. Give your fears to God and ask who you should share His love with?
