Do You Really Believe This?
God is Good

Pastor Kirk, June 6, 2021

Read: Psalm 27

Big Idea: Believing God is good is the starting point to knowing and trusting him. Confidence in the goodness of God enables you to face anything.

Getting to Know Each Other (Start Here):

  • Have you ever recommended or represented a product/restaurant/food because you thought it was good?

 Going Deeper:

  1. Do you really believe that God is good? Explain.
  2. What would you describe goodness as? Read Mark 10:17-19 where Jesus says that none are good accept God.
  3. Read Psalm 27.  What verse sticks out for you about God’s goodness?  Why is this verse special to you today?
  4. How do we participate in showing God’s goodness to our neighborhoods and friends groups?
  5. What symbols of God’s goodness are reminders to you that he has not forgotten about you?
  6. How do we celebrate God’s goodness to us in the midst of pain?
  7. Read 1 Samuel 4:1-10. What assumptions did the Israelites have about the ark, God’s presence among them, and why did things go wrong based on those assumptions?
  8. How have you seen the goodness of God this week?
  9. What have you asked the “why God?” question about recently?

Apply it:

  • Spend time writing your own Psalm about God’s goodness. Use Psalm 27 as the example to write like.
  • Practice the prayer of Examen. We have a resource on the website or email Pastor Colin to get a write up on the prayer of Examen.

Spend time praying for and with each other. (If you are comfortable allow moments of silence to linger to hear from God).
