Brand New
Brand New Eyes

Read: Luke 6:37-42
Big Idea: We need new eyes to see ourselves clearly so we can see others through Jesus’ eyes.
Getting to Know Each Other (Start Here):
- Do you like watching talent shows that show peoples struggles? Or lack of talent?
Going Deeper:
- Why do you think Jesus’ parable placed a speck in the others eye and a plank in ours? What does this imagery speak to?
- Have you ever tried to teach something that you hadn’t learned yet? Have you
- Read the beginning of James 3:1-2. How do we have grace for other people messing up knowing that we do as well?
- How does our judgment hurt ourselves and others? Luke 6:39
- Has something you done with good intentions been poorly received or the other person thought you were being judgmental?
- Has someone who has judged you ever asked for forgiveness? Have you forgiven them even if they didn’t ask for forgiveness? How has giving forgiveness changed your heart?
- Have you ever asked for forgiveness of someone that you have judged? How did that change your relationship?
- How do we as the church repent of hypocrisy? How do we make amends with those who have been hurt by a hypocrisy within the church? Do we need to make amends for global church issues or local church issues?
- How do we incorporate regular times of evaluating our blind spots into our routine?
Apply it:
- Ask Holy Spirt to reveal to you your blind spots.
- Follow up with a friend and ask them if they think you have any blind spots?
Spend time praying for and with each other. (If you are comfortable allow moments of silence to linger to hear from God).
