Use a few words or a phrase to describe your present prayer life.
Have you ever used the Lord’s Prayer (or more aptly named the Disciples’ Prayer) as a guide? Read Luke 11:2-4. What stands out to you about the way Jesus teaches us to pray?
Share about a time where you were reverent before God just in awe of him. What might be some things you are doing/seeing/listening to, etc. that diminish God’s reverence in your heart?
How does the phrase “Your Kingdom come” challenge or encourage the way you normally pray? Is there something in your life for which you are praying your own will? If so, what change could you make to pray God’s will instead of your own?
Read Luke 11:5-8 in NIV. How often are you shamelessly audacious in your prayers? What prevents you from continuing to ask God for help?
Read Luke 11:9-10. What parameters, if any, should be put around prayer? Can we ask for anything?
Think of the best gift you have been given by your dad. Now consider the best gift given to you by God. Read Luke 11:11-13. How do these verses shape your understanding of how God responds to your prayers?
Pray
As a group, pray the Lord’s Prayer together in unison (from the same version), stop and listen to Holy Spirit, and then pray it again.
