With wonderful weather and vacation time ahead, this is a great time to travel and be outdoors. Have you ever realized that in order to go somewhere, you first need to know your present location. Knowing where you are will give you a great sense of direction as you start your journey.
Recently Pastor Kirk began a preaching series entitled “Good Neighbours”. We have been learning about how we can reach OUT (part of the UP, IN, and OUT vision of our church) to the neighbours around us.
Several guests, elders-in-training who represent the millennial generation, joined the Board at our meeting this month. Millennials, people born after 1981, represent 27% of the population of Canada. As with any generation, they have their own distinct challenges and characteristics. We spent a good portion of our meeting discussing ways that Living Hope could reach millennials with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In preparation for our meeting each board member read several articles and watched a video about how we could minister to them. Perhaps you would like to watch it, too.

The latter part of that video (going beyond conversation and reaching them) is excellent. Our guests gave us insights into their world, and shared how they too would like to reach out and minister to their neighbours. Look for some exciting things as we continue to take the Gospel to Regina and beyond.
Shauna Archer, our Children & Family Pastor, was present for part of our meeting. She gave us even more insight as she leads a very dynamic ministry. Here are some highlights from her report:
“It is my desire to do more in the community. Utilizing our summer student, we are planning days in the parks of the Greens and Creeks this summer. I will also be contacting the principal of Arcola East Community School to see what needs exist there, and how Living Hope can help address them. Two T.A.C.O. Tuesdays (Taking Awesome Care of Others) will be held this summer to give our church family the opportunity to share their used clothing and to pack school backpacks. The Kids Camp, July 10 – 14th (9am – noon), will be very motivational. A kids’ camp reunion is planned for September 22nd. This will give us another opportunity to connect with families whose children attended the camp in July.”
