Listen With Care
Pastor Kirk, February 21, 2020
Read: Genesis 12:1-3, Acts 8:26-36
Big Idea: Great things happen when you listen to the Spirit and the people around you. You bless people when you listen.
Getting to Know Each Other (Start Here):
- Are you a talker or a listener? What would your friends say?
Going Deeper:
- Has there been a time in your life when you truly felt heard? How did that impact you?
- When you talk more than you listen, what does this express to the other person?
- What part does listening play in sharing the gospel?
- Are there people that you habitual don’t listen with care to?
- Does God ever lay out the whole plan for you? Or like Philip in Acts 8 is it a step by step progression of listening? Why do you think God breaks things down for us?
- Look up some examples of how Jesus listened and asked questions. What can we do to emulate Him?
- Luke 18:19, Luke 18:35-41, John 4:7, Mark 10:35-38
- Have you cultivated the ability to hear God while you are doing something else: whether it’s listening to another person, walking down the street, etcetera? Why is this important for us to learn? How do you learn to do this?
- When we listen to people we give them time, respect and dignity. There are people in our lives who need a compassionate ear to be heard because they have been marginalized or hurt. How can we as the Body of Christ listen with care?
