Do you do this?

If you’ve ever travelled with me or ridden in my car, you know that I have a habit of arguing with the GPS.  Have you ever argued with your GPS?  It doesn’t matter if it’s Siri, Google, Alexa, TomTom or some other brand, I argue with them all.  I argue with my GPS because I think that I know a better way. I think I know a shorter way, a quicker way, or one with just less traffic – I’m confident I know more than my GPS.

Have you ever used your GPS in a familiar place? Once I decided to turn my GPS on and get it to give me directions to my home. I didn’t need the help, I knew the way, I’d driven the route countless times.  For some reason, though, that day I decided to listen instead of arguing. Do you know what I found? I found a quicker and shorter way home; I found a new way, a better way.

This weekend we are looking at Luke 5:1-11, the story of an encounter that Jesus had with a man who had his own way of doings. When this man encountered Jesus, he had a choice to make. He could argue with Jesus or let go of his way of doing things and discover a new way.  I hope you’ll join us this weekend as we continue our series, PowerFULL, and discover that the Spirit-empowered life involves a choice, to surrender your way and discover a new way.

See you Sunday,

Pastor Kirk
