I am sure that you are like me – in past years November was filled with putting together plans for the Christmas season. Plans would include seeing family, happenings at church, and fitting in all the visiting in a cohesive plan of merriment. The plans usually ended up being a chaotic plan for driving and visiting, but there was always joy and merriment to be had. This year sure is different; so many plans seem to end before they can be used as things shift.
This is kind of like the first Christmas that we read about in the Bible. The people during the first Christmas had their own plans and lives. We read how their lives shifted and changed when they encountered God’s plans. What we see unfolding is how God’s plan may have disrupted Mary, Joseph, the shepherds, wise men, and so many others, but ultimately peace broke into their lives.
This December we are exploring what makes a great Christmas and how, even in the midst of a pandemic, this could be the best Christmas ever. I hope you will join us this coming Sunday as we look at the story of Mary in Luke 1:26-56 and discover how God’s plan leads us to peace.
See you Sunday,
Pastor Colin
