Group Discussion Guide – The Way – Meaningful Impact

The Way
Meaningful Impact (Out)

Pastor Colin, November 15, 2020

Read: John 4:1-42

Big Idea:    Jesus met the earthly needs of people as well as their eternal needs. He is our meaningful impact.

Getting to Know Each Other (Start Here):

  • Have you ever done something and later discovered that it lacked impact?
  • Have you ever felt defeated because you were not able to impact an issue or situation to change for the better?

Going Deeper:

  1. Has there been something that Jesus has called you to and equipped you for? Did you do it?  What was the impact?
  2. Read Mark 2:15-17. Who do you spend your time with? Is it the Healthy or the Sick?
  3. Jesus liked to reach those on the fringes and in uncomfortable places. Where would you have to go to meet people outside of your comfort zone?
  4. Often when People realize that Jesus is the Messiah, he tells them to be quiet and to not tell others about it. Why do you think he was so open about who he was with the Samaritan woman?
  5. Jesus tells his disciples that doing the Father’s will sustained him. What do you turn to for feeling satisfied? How does Jesus meet your needs?
  6. Share about a time you wanted to make an impact, but felt like you missed an opportunity to bring Jesus into the situation. What would you do differently?
  7. Is our service at home, work, church and the community done in our own power or in Jesus’ power?  Does it have meaningful impact for them? For us? For the Kingdom?
  8. The Samaritan woman just shared what Jesus did for her and introduced other people to him. Does this sound like something you would do? Is it complex?

Apply it:

  • What uncomfortable terrain might the Holy Spirit be leading you into to share about Jesus? How has God equipped you for what He calls you to?

Spend time praying for and with each other. (If you are comfortable allow moments of silence to linger to hear from God).
