The Way
Spirit Empowered (UP)
Pastor Eric, October 4, 2020
Read: Luke 4:1, 14-21; Philippians 4:7; John 14:12
Big Idea: The Christ-centered life is a Spirit-led life that is always on mission.
Getting to Know Each Other (Start Here):
- What does the Spirit Empowered life look like to you?
- What is a miracle that you have seen God do in your life or someone’s that you know?
- Have you ever felt stuck or defeated trying to measure up to external or internal expectations?
Going Deeper:
- If Jesus were here in body today, what do you think He would be doing in Regina? How does that change your idea of what you should be doing in your community? Is your vision too small?
- We wonder if the Jesus’ walk on earth and His wisdom and miracles are possible today. How can we expand what we think is possible? John 14:12, Matthew 19:26, Mark 9:23.
- What does it look like for you to invite Jesus into your work place? What steps can you take this week to invite Holy Spirit to work in power through you?
- Is Holy Spirit welcome in our lives, homes, interactions and decisions every day? Or do we invite Holy Spirit mainly when a big problem/decision looms?
- We know that we have the power of Holy Spirit and a calling to continue Jesus’ ministry, yet are there times in your life where you do not feel motivated to live that out? Why do you sometimes lack desire to move in power?
- Have you experienced a situation at work or in your day to day life that seemed impossible? Then a spirit empowered solution came to your mind and you were able to work through that impossible situation.
- Have you ever thought about how the Trinity worked together for the Incarnation? How do you see the interplay in scripture?
Apply it:
- Challenge for the week: Jesus is our example of what it looks like to do the impossible with the Spirit. Read through some of the gospels and spend time studying what Jesus did with the power of the Spirit. Be inspired live in that power.
Spend time praying for and with each other. (If you are comfortable allow moments of silence to linger to hear from God).
