Scripture: Revelation 1:1-20
Summary: Jesus is powerful and present in the good, the bad and everything in-between.
Checking In (Focus Here):
Galatians 6:2 – Bear one another’s burdens: Ask each other how you are doing and listen to what is happening.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 – Encourage one another: Speak the hope of Christ to one another. Encourage each other.
Ephesians 6:18 – Pray for one another: Spend time praying for one another.
Going Deeper:
- Read Revelation 1:1-20; how is Jesus described. What is some of the imagery used?
- How have you experienced Jesus with you during this time?
- What do you to make you more sensitive to Jesus presence? Pastor Kirk talked about worship and prayer. What else do you do?
- How has Jesus shown that He is still amongst His churches?
- Jesus pulled the veil back for John to see that Jesus was reigning as King and High Priest. In what area of your life do you need Jesus to pull back the veil so that you can see Him?
Apply It:
Use the Examen to review your day and prepare for the next. Ignatius of Loyola is known for the process of examen. But other Christians have used it to see God throughout their day and to prepare to see God in the next day.
I like to use the 5 step process and these R’s help me to walk through.
Relish – Give thanks for what went well and praise God for it all and who He is.
Request – Ask for the Holy Spirit to fill you and lead you as you prepare to examen your day with Him.
Review – Look at your day through God’s eyes. Think how you treated people and how you reacted to them.
Repent – Ask for forgiveness and healing from mistakes and sin.
Resolve – dedicate the next day to God. Commit in concrete ways how you will serve and seek Him.
