Wisemen Adore Him
Let Us Adore Him
Pastor Kirk, Dec 15th, 2019
Scripture: Matthew 2:1-12
Summary: The Magi had studied the scriptures and were watching for the sign that the Messiah had come. When they saw Jesus, they realized that all the prophecies were true, that God can be trusted to do what he says.
Main Thought: Jesus proves God can be trusted.
Getting to Know Each Other (Start Here):
- What does Incarnation mean to you?
Going Deeper:
- Discuss the idea of Implicit and Explicit promises. What are some implicit promises we have in society? (explicit promises are those where the promise is clearly stated in its own right and implicit promises are those that are implied and may be contained in other things.)
- How has God shown us His trustworthiness?
- How have you experienced God’s trustworthiness?
- Where in the Matthew account with the Magi do we see trust being exercised? How can you exercise trust in God in your own life?
- What has God done throughout scripture to build trust with humanity? What promises did God keep with the Incarnation?
- How does the faithfulness of God help us to face everyday life?
Apply it:
- What are you facing in life that is an opportunity to exercise your trusting God?
Pray without ceasing:
Pray for the elderly of our congregation who will be spending Christmas in a hospital or in extended care. Pray that they would experience Love and hope this Christmas. That their spirits would be encouraged and drawn into deeper love with the Lord.
Community Reading Plan: Luke 13-18
This week add Luke 13 to 18 to your devotions. Read a chapter a day up to and including chapter 18. Look at the relationships that are present in these chapters and keep two questions in mind.
- What do I need to know from this chapter (a truth about my reality or God or a life lesson)?
- What do I need to grow (Is there something God is trying to teach me through His Word)?
Keep a journal nearby and write down any questions or thoughts you can share with your Community Group. Remind and encourage each other to participate in this group devotion.
