Scripture: Genesis 32
Main Thought: The right attitude leaders real reconciliation while the wrong attitude wastes everyone’s time.
Summary: Reconciled people are characterized by an attitude of selflessness, generosity and perseverance.
Getting to Know Each Other:
- Have you ever had a conflict that just wouldn’t resolve or go away?
Going Deeper:
- Read Genesis 32:3 to Genesis 33:11 together. This story may or may not be familiar to you. What caught your attention or stood out to you as you read this story today? What do you think the Holy Spirit is saying to you through what stood out?
- What do you think selflessness looks like in the middle of a conflict? Have you ever chosen to have an attitude of selflessness in the middle of a conflict? What happened and how did it turn out?
- What does Philippians 2:5-11 teach us about what selflessness looks like?
- What does it mean to have an attitude of generosity when pursuing reconciliation?
- What does Luke 6:27-36 teach us about being generous with those we are in conflict with?
- The third attitude we need to have when pursuing reconciliation is persistence. Why does reconciliation require persistence? Why is it difficult to persist in reconciliation?
- What does 2 Peter 3:8-9 teach us God and persistence?
Apply It:
- What is the Holy Spirit saying to you about reconciliation?
- What attitude do you most need to work on?
- Is there a conflict that you need to pursue reconciliation in? Share with your group and pray together about that situation.
